Want Spiritual Enlightenment? Don't Quit Your Day Job!
Written By Psychic Rhiannon, a LivePerson Spirituality Expert
Want spiritual enlightenment but you're stuck in the office? In today's economy there's no doubt that the common methods of spiritual enlightenment are just not practical anymore. You've heard the story before, some lawyer, or university professor, or scientist, suddenly has a life altering moment, and they run from their job, their family, their life in essence, and reach towards the spiritual epiphany, or in retrospect, mid life crisis they're having. The story ends with them finding some tried and tested way to discover spiritual enlightenment. Sometimes these folks become spiritual leaders, others start working on get rich quick schemes on the internet and other yet are living the good life doing other types of lucrative work that is apparently less stressful, and therefore more spiritually rewarding.
The true reality is that there's no reason to give up your research, your practice, your students or your life to find the same spiritual enlightenment that the more radical and reckless have found out there. Spiritual enlightenment is about a personal inner journey that is going to put any person through the wringer; it'll make anyone want to run screaming from the office to some tropical island where they can have a vision in their margarita. While yes, a lot of people need to take the journey to spiritual enlightenment, I don't believe they need to go quitting their job and running away from the life they've already built in order to do it.
Change is needed, and the kind of change that is needed in the world right now is one that spiritual enlightenment can offer. A person who is more in tune with themselves, their wants, their desires, their dreams and goals, and someone who is more in tune with the people around them. The world needs a shift in focus from the importance of the individual, to the importance of the whole. Spiritual enlightenment can change the way you see the world, and in turn, change the way you work, which in time will grow and spread to others via the ripple effect. It only takes one person with a vision to change the world, and if you withdraw from the world, it becomes harder to help the world. Sure, for the first little while you'll be dealing with your own ignored personal issues, but once you've come full circle, you'll be in the position to help others around you.
Spiritual enlightenment is only good if you know how to apply it to the world around you. Don't quit your day job and start some spiritual enlightenment foundation, because this world needs enlightened lawyers, doctors, professors, psychologists, CEO's and scientists too. We need people who have taken the proverbial leap to change who they are on the inside so that the world around them can also start to change. And guess what? You don't need a four day fast in the middle of the wilderness begging for a vision; it doesn't require a pilgrimage to Stonehenge, it doesn't require an initiation ritual to a secret coven, and it doesn't even require years of study and practice in meditation, though some of these can aid in the journey if taken with a practical approach. All it really takes to achieve spiritual enlightenment is the willingness to ask yourself the questions, and to dig deep within yourself for the answers you know are there. Below are the questions and the basic technique to delve into them. How you proceed to finding your spiritual enlightenment from here on out is up to you, but I hope you find it.
Meditation Technique:
1. Find a space where you can be alone, either at home or at the office, sit down in that place however you feel comfortable.
2. Concentrate on your breathing and with each breath, let go of the stress of your day.
3. Enter into a relaxed state (you should feel slightly tired, may feel tingling in your body, may feel like you're in a daze)
4. Ask yourself one of the questions on the list three times.
5. Answer yourself honestly.
The Questions:
* Am I truly happy with my life?
* What kind of person am I?
* How do others see me?
* What kind of person do I want to be?
* What changes can I make in my life to make me happier?

A Druid’s Way of Life
The sun rises across the eastern horizon, beams shoot over the darkened earth at the precipice of dawn. The sky is lit in faint colors of blue and pink, and then is shattered with the light piercing shades of orange, deeper pinks and yet shimmering yellows. The dawn now crawls across the land, unearthing the rich soil from its night time slumber. The grasses and trees within the forest lands are illuminated by the light. Within this seemingly silent cacophony, the lone pilgrim stands on a stone, looking out over the shimmering waters of the ocean, welcoming the sun to its newest day.
The pilgrim travels down from the shore, where he has spent the night in meditation. Finding the path he tracked through the forest easily, he barrels on towards his home and his village. As he passes squirrels, rabbits, fox and deer he salutes each one that he meets. The birds sing a morning song of glory to him and he hums a similar tune, while passing through the stony forest lands. He reaches his village where people are busy with their morning chores. They live in a secluded grove, the dwellings circling around the center hearth fire.
The pilgrim gathers his community and predicts the weather for the day, gives a sign of blessing for the crops and thanks the universe above and the bosom of the mother earth below, for the gifts to the people.
The Druid is the truthsayer, the shaman, for the village, and the people seek his guidance. Is now the right time to initiate my son? Shall I plant the seeds for the oats today? Shall I venture westward for ample game? The Druid gives intricate responses. He is the caretaker and they depend upon his wisdom.
The remainder of the Druid’s day was filled with constant study. He converses with the voice of the mother earth herself to learn how to farm, how to create tools, how to properly light the fires, how to cook, how to heal the wounds of the hunters and how to ward off disease within the tribe. He entered into trance states to look for the deeper signs of the universe, to understand messages the stars were sending and to understand which places were protected by the ancient magick of the earth.
He selected initiates from the village and instilled in them the knowledge he’d gained. As the circle of knowledge expanded, the tradition was passed on. As the people of the tribe moved outward in spirals and the population grew, the Druid was still at the forefront of knowledge of the universe, the first to explain the newest theories, the first to listen to the dawn and hear the music of the Oran Mor, the first to listen to the voice of Creation. The people created the great monuments of their time, inspired by the universe and the goddess of the earth herself to draw the symbol of the spiral and use it within the magickal workings.
At the end of the day the Druid and the villagers enjoyed the feast of the evening, listening to the songs and tales of old told by the Bard. The bards were the poets, the singers, and storytellers of the tribe, they were the lore keepers, and through their magickal words the tribe was inspired. Never did a tribe deny the bard if a story he had to tell. They gathered around the Hearth fires, and soon, once the sun had reached its slumber and the embers of the fire were almost but out, the Druid would return to his abode, to sleep and dream and open that subconscious mind for which he hoped new visions would soon come.
It is believed that the Druids first appeared in the lands of Ireland and Scotland, and that they traveled the lands of much more powerful civilizations of the world in ancient times. Many who learned the philosophies and ways of the Druid branched out into other parts of the world, offering up their wisdom to many peoples both far and wide, from the Romans to the Egyptians to the Hindu people.
As time passed and people of other religions came to Ireland and England, the purity of the Druid way was threatened. Druids and the practice of Druidism went underground to protect the magick and their way of life with its strong connections to the earth.
Today Druidism is still very underground, though it can be found by those who specifically seek it out. There are a number of online Orders and Groves that accept members and teach the Druid ways online. A few of the more popular orders are: OBOD: Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids, and NOD: The New Order of Druids. Both offer training to initiates which takes them on a journey through the sacred landscape of the ancestors and teaches them their philosophy, beliefs, mysticism and practices. Currently the most prominent Druid groups meet in England and other parts of Europe such as Belgium, and they share their wisdom and knowledge with one another, and perform a variety of seasonal and rite of passage ceremonies. In fact, they do meet in Stonehenge these days, but this was not the way it was in ancient times.
As Christianity rose, many of the people in Ireland simply incorporated Christianity into Druidism because it was not all that different. At midwinter the Druids would hang holly and mistletoe, they would have a great feast, and they would adorn an evergreen tree. At Imbolc they would recognize the number of weeks until Spring, (now called Groundhog Day) and they would honour the Goddess Brigit, who later became Saint Brigid, or Bride. In March during Ostara they would hunt for Easter Eggs, and on May 1st they would have a huge bonfire to celebrate the coming of summer. On August 1stst they would honour the ancestors who had gone forth into the otherworlds. In addition to this, naming ceremonies, marriages, funerals, and other rites of passage were regularly performed by the Druids of society. As Christianity continued to rise however, it was the Bards who became the priests of early Christianity, and the Druids with their weather magicks, alchemy and powerful shamanic techniques that went into the underground. To go even further, every king of the land from Caesar to the Kings of Norway had a Druid advisor at their side. There was a time when all of Europe utilized Druids in their daily society, from Gaul, to Celtica, to Rome itself. In all actuality, the Pagan religion so widely practiced today, with the exception of Wicca, was in fact Druidism. they would celebrate the harvest season, and on November 1
So next time you light a candle for a deceased friend, or kiss someone under the mistletoe, or converse with a great oak, just remember that it was the Druids that practiced these things for centuries, and that while it’s subtle, their way of life is still alive.

High on Psychics, Don't be a Junkie!
It’s the third time this week she’s come to see me. Frantic about the smallest amount of communication she had with “him” and needs me to see how he feels, what he thinks, and if the future path is changed at all because of this small and minute bit of progress. I sigh to myself and calmly tap into the energies. Nothing has changed, he is still the same, and in short and honest words I give her the reassurance she needs that the future path is all on track. I don’t do a full read, but send her the energy healing she seeks and send her on her way, a part of me knowing that two or three days from now she’ll be back, in that same frantic mood, worrying about another small insignificant thing.
Maybe it happened because of the old adage, “If we have a reading, and you don’t take the path prescribed, then the path will change.” Maybe she is highly superstitious and thinks that if she steps on a crack she should call her mother to find out about her back. Maybe she’s just paranoid, or a worrywart, or maybe it’s none of those things. Maybe she’s just a Psychic Junkie.
The term was fashioned long ago when Psychics or anyone in the spirituality, metaphysical, and alternative health field began seeing clients who were returning on a frequent basis for the therapy that in truth, they did not need.
Their reasons for coming vary from needing an update, to having new situations to explore that are related to the first issue, sometimes they just like the energy, and other times they just need someone to talk to. The reasons don’t matter, but the fact that an addiction has developed does. Gently guiding the client to a more positive and strong future is always the goal.
With any form of therapy or professional assistance in life, there is generally a rule of thumb for frequency of using said service. They say, everything in moderation, see your dentist twice a year, see your doctor once a year, check your eyes once a year, see your reiki healer once a week for three weeks, and similarly, see your psychic reader, once a week when working on a situation, and once a month if you have a pertinent question.
Come for the right reasons and avoid falling into the stereotype of being a “Psychic Junkie”. If a situation is going to change the course of your life, certainly, come. But don’t come if the problem will resolve in a couple days. Come if you’re feeling like a basket case, but don’t come if you’re looking for a quick fix. Energy healing and psychic readings aim towards positive growth spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically, we don’t do the quick fix.
Above all else, when seeking psychic guidance, reiki healing, or alternative therapy, trust yourself and your own intuition, and if I haven’t said it already, don’t be a Psychic Junkie.

The Positive Effects of Positive Thinking
It’s hard to think about a world connected, it’s hard to see how one action affects the next which affects the next and the next. It’s hard to see how every move a person makes ultimately decides their future.
First, take a look at the energetic aspect of it. Each and every person has an energy field, an aura that extends the length of their arms outstretched. This is literally a little energy bubble that each and every person lives in that comes with many layers of energy. The first and foremost way that a person communicates is through their energy field. For instance a person who is upset will go to the grocery store, and interact with a bubbly clerk. They smile, and though they don’t touch or exchange any strong words other than the frequent, “Have a nice day!” The person who was upset leaves feeling slightly upbeat, and less upset. This is because their interaction with the clerk’s energy field interacted with their own and created a change in the energy field. Subsequently, the happy bubbly person after encountering more than one upset person may begin to feel not as bubbly due to their energy field exchanging with so many other energy fields.
This is somewhat an exaggeration as most people with pep and happiness tend to make other people happy until something within their personal life or environment makes them feel down. This could be little things like the car not starting, receiving bad news from a loved one, or even aching feet after an eight hour day. Regardless, the message is that each and every person’s energy field changes constantly throughout the day based on their current state of mind, and in turn affects other people within their physical proximity.
Most metaphysical consultants will spend time everyday in meditation in order to raise their aura levels to a higher positive and spiritual level so that they can provide clients with accurate, honest, and detailed readings, which help to uplift the client and make them aware of their surroundings and changes coming into their lives. Of course, metaphysical consultants are not the only ones with energy fields that need fine tuning, as everyone can benefit from the therapeutic affects of meditation, in order to allow their own energy field to affect others in a positive way. Negative thinking will result in a negative energy field and consequently affect others in a negative way. Knowing that every person has the power to affect others and bring a smile to their face is important.
Next time you’re out and about, try thinking positively to get a smile out of someone!
Positive thoughts react positively on others, negative thoughts result negatively on others. But how does one’s thoughts relate directly to their own future path? This is a question that has long since been answered by the psychic community through the key words, “Free Will” which makes everyone think that no matter what the future path is, it can change based on “Free Will.” But has anyone every explained exactly what “Free Will” means? Free Will is literally referring to the power of your own mind!
Each person has hundreds of thoughts racing through their psyche everyday. These thoughts categorize themselves into three components, thoughts of what one needs to do, thoughts of what one does not want to do, and thoughts of what one desires to do. Of these three types of thought patterns, two will result in action taken, while the last will be blocked by negative after thoughts.
For instance, someone is interested in taking the next step with their relationship. Their mind has a desire to be with their significant other on a permanent basis. The thoughts form in their mind on what they will say to make the next step occur, and somewhere along the lines, a negative thought creeps into their head, and they stop thinking, and turn the thought process off, causing the next move to remain suspended in time in their head. By doing this, that someone actually delaying and prolonging their own future path because they refuse to take the step forward, and keep it locked up in their psyche.
Many people do this, have doubts about their future, second guess the action they want to take, and even create excuses, blocks and reasons why the future they envision for themselves, plainly won’t unfold the way they plan. By thinking negatively, they in fact hold back their path, and instead of having the future they envisioned, they become stuck in dead end loops, jobs that go nowhere, relationships that become stale, life becomes mundane because their mind could not stop blocking itself from reaching its own potential.
Metaphysical consultants for years have been battling this struggle of inner wits so to speak, and the answer is simple, think positively about your life, recognize those who are constantly blocking themselves, and always associate yourself with those who are moving forward in their lives, not backwards into loops and ruts. By first taking control of your own thoughts, and deciding to live a life thinking positively, you can control your own future outcome, and help others to live the life they want too. Remember, every time someone comes to a Metaphysical consultant, they are only looking at the best and highest possible outcome for the individual client, helping to either free them from that which brings them down, or give them hope for what can bloom into happiness, peace and joy in their lives, and while they can see and guide, it takes positive thinking for the highest good to occur in anyone’s life.
Every morning when you wake up, try telling yourself that today will be a good day, and see how much you glow and flourish everyday!
